Job Description

The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, preventative maintenance, and repair of loading dock equipment, high-speed industrial doors, industrial fans, and related material handling systems at customer facilities. Working in the field, you will operate independently and alongside team members to troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and light electrical systems while delivering professional customer service.

  • Travel to client sites daily in an RDC service vehicle to install, inspect, maintain, and repair loading dock levelers, seals, industrial doors, and safety equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical components, hydraulic systems, and low-voltage/electrical controls to isolate and fix equipment issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and recommend repairs or replacement parts to clients.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by clearly explaining work completed, answering questions, and maintaining a professional demeanor on-site.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, cutting torches, and welders safely to perform equipment modifications or repair work.
  • Complete digital work orders, log parts usage, and track job progress using RDC’s service management tools.
  • Adhere strictly to OSHA standards, DOT regulations, and company safety guidelines at all times.

Requirements
  • Must possess a Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Must successfully pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, background check, and drug screening.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification or trade experience is a plus.
  • Practical, hands-on experience in at least one key discipline: mechanical systems, industrial electrical, welding/fabrication, construction, or equipment repair.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical and technical issues independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with a customer-focused attitude.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 75 lbs, climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work in varying environmental conditions (warehouses, outdoor job sites, hot/cold weather).
